Indications for Genetic Testing for Prostate Cancer Risk

Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Breast, Ovarian, and Pancreatic Cancer.

Family History Criteria: Personal history of Gleason score ≥7 prostate cancer with: ≥1 biologic relative with ovarian, pancreatic, or metastatic prostate cancer at any age or breast cancer ≤50 years; or ≥2 biologic relatives with breast or prostate cancer (any grade) at any age; or Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry.

Disease Characteristics: Personal history of metastatic or intraductal prostate cancer (radiographic evidence or biopsy proven). Patients with prostate cancer diagnosed <55 years.

Screening in BRCA1 and BRCA2 Carriers: Consider prostate cancer screening at age 40 years.
