M. Mooreville, MD, FACS
Diplomat American Board of Urology, Fellow American College of Surgeons
As an urologist, Dr. Mooreville is highly trained to treat disorders of the male and female urinary tract (bladder, ureter, kidney and urethra) and the male reproductive system. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He is an expert in the treatment of kidney and ureteral stones. He uses endoscopic techniques and ESWL (shock wave treatment), which make surgery unnecessary. Our practice has long offered minimally invasive treatments for kidney and ureteral stones with Holmium laser ablation of stones and ESWL (electro-shock wave lithotripsy). In fact, since 1986 the Urology Care Center and the Delaware Valley Kidney Stone Center were among the earliest providers of ESWL in the Philadelphia area through its association with Mercy Medical Center.
The Urology Care Center offers a comprehensive approach to treating genitourinary malignancies. Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) is offered for patients with prostate cancer through our association with Mercy Medical Center. This modality of treatment is designed to focus small beams of radiation to the prostate to avoid healthy tissue and treat only the disease. Robotic surgery is being offered through our relationship with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Other forms of treatment offered include Brachytherapy, Cryosurgery, and CyberKnife when indicated. Early bladder cancer can be treated in the office under local. More advanced disease can be treated as same day procedures in the hospital.
The Urologic Care Center is a pioneer in minimally invasive treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with the offering of several modalities of in-office treatments like TUNA (radiofrequency energy), and Laser Ablation of the prostate for benign enlargement. These are heat-based office procedures designed to reduce prostate size and improve voiding dynamics. Dr. Mooreville is a recognized expert and has offered instructional courses to other urologists. He is also an expert in the “Gold Standard” for treating BPH: TURP – transurethral resection of the prostate. This procedure requires excellent 3 dimensional space orientation, which Dr. Mooreville has mastered from doing this procedure for over 25 years.
The Incontinence Center provides expertise in male and female voiding dysfunction. Dr. Mooreville performs same day and overnight incontinence procedures, including sling bladder neck suspension surgery and collagen injections. Dr. Mooreville is also a nationally recognized expert in the area of erectile dysfunction having developed instruments currently used by urologists all over the country in the implantation of penile prosthesis.
